How the earth got its beauty, by author Sudha Murty
This is the story of how Mother Earth wanted to know if humans were living a good life on Earth. So she took form of a girl named Devi and went to Earth. Here she visited a hut where she met three sisters named Seeta, Sunaina and Shyama who had big dreams. Seeta wanted lofty snow-clad peaks called mountains and tall evergreen trees. Sunaina dreamt of a big blue water-body with tall trees and fruits and flowers. Shyama wished for plenty of rainforests with several terrestrial and aquatic animals. Mother Earth told them to make paintings of their imaginations and give them to her and she would make landscapes alike to their pictures. What happens when they decided to exploit Mother Earth’s generosity and keep the landscapes for themselves ?
Read to find out.The book’s vibrant illustrations are it’s crowning achievement. Sudha Murty maam’s books always have a moral in them. This story shares the message that humans are exploiting the Earth. The resources provided to us by Mother nature is for everyone and we must not use them for our own purposes. We must not be selfish for Mother Earth’s resources.
There is a famous quote “With great power comes great responsibility”. Mother Nature gave power to the three sisters in order to create landforms and other living things. Even as Mother Nature gives us several landforms, she often sends an earthquake or a flood to bring balance to the world and remind us that all living creatures are equal in Mother Nature’s eyes.
