Rakhi

Raksha Bandhan celebrates a family bond
With sisters and brothers, oh ! so fond.
Tie a Rakhi to their hand
Symbolizing the eternal protection band.

Long ago, in the Mahabharata -
Krishna beheaded Shishupala
Hurt his finger with his chakra,
Watching this was the sister of Drishtadyumna.
Yes, the noble Draupadi Devi
She tore of a piece of her sari,
Covered Krishna’s wound which was bleeding
The spirit of the Rakhi was indeed seeing.

Rakhi tied by sis on brother’s wrist
In time of mist , he supports her with a fist
Celebrate Raksha Bandhan every year,
To a tighter bond — our siblings we steer.
